Uveitis, simply put, is inflammation of the uvea, which is the iris and surrounding tissue. It can be caused by a number of factors, including autoimmune disorders, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
It can also result from infection or exposure to toxins. Because there are so many potential causes, your retina specialist must determine the underlying reason for your condition for effective treatment.
These treatments may include antibiotics or antiviral medication, steroid drops or surgery.
If you believe that you are experiencing conditions as described above or are concerned about the health of your eyes, it is important to see an eye care specialist immediately. If you have been diagnosed with a retina condition or have been referred to a retina specialist in East Tennessee and would like to make an appointment with Dr. Matt Cole, Knoxville Retina Specialist at Drs.
