Sometimes people see small moving dots in their field of vision. These sensations are called floaters. Flashes of light sometimes appear with floaters and are more noticeable in the dark.
Floaters and flashes are very common and are not typically a sign of a dangerous medical condition. However, if both floaters and flashes begin suddenly, that may indicate a more serious eye problem, such as a retinal tear or retinal detachment. If you experience an abrupt onset of these symptoms, you should see an eye care professional immediately.
If you believe that you are experiencing conditions as described above or are concerned about the health of your eyes, it is important to see an eye care specialist immediately. If you have been diagnosed with a retina condition or have been referred to a retina specialist in East Tennessee and would like to make an appointment with Dr. Matt Cole, Knoxville Retina Specialist at Drs. Campbell, Cunningham, Taylor & Haun, call (865) 584-0905.
